The library is for everyone, including patrons who have impairments or disabilities. Our library building is ADA compliant with friendly staff more than happy to help navigate the many library resources available.
One such resource is the library’s collection itself. For those with low vision, Large Print Books and Compact Disc Audiobooks are plentiful at our library with new book sections in both areas.
If you need to enlarge the type of any printed material, feel free to use the library’s magnifier. Located by the public computers, the magnifier can also alter color and contrast to enhance print for easier viewing. Request assistance at the Reference Desk to access this large magnifier or ask to use our handheld magnifying glass.
With the only Braille Book Collection for children in Bucks County, the library boasts dozens of juvenile braille fiction and nonfiction titles. Each of our braille books can be borrowed for three (3) weeks.
On the library’s E-Resources page, the library offers three digital platforms for patron access to our digital library collection – cloudLibrary, Hoopla, and Libby (for Northampton Township residents only). Hoopla and cloudLibrary offer both e-books and e-audiobooks while Libby provides access only to e-book selections. Each resource is accessible with a library card and PIN and the e-book text can be enlarged for easier reading.
The world of reading and books is essential for all to navigate our world. If it is difficult for you to access reading material because of low vision, blindness, a physical impairment where you can’t hold a book, or a reading disability, please consult a Reference Librarian. Reference Librarians can direct you to LAMP and an application for their services. LAMP’s services include talking books and a digital player to use them, BARD (braille and audio download), Braille Books, Large Print Books and Description DVDs. The LAMP application can be signed by a librarian.
LAMP is funded through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
